The founder Ms. Opio Sam Leticia, a transgender activist after falling victim of the hate crime campaigns, beaten and put into coma, mobilized her fellow youths to come up with the organization to agitate for the protection of LGBT persons in Uganda. In 2013, the group was registered as a company limited by guarantee to enable it to serve LGBTI youths in the rural districts of Uganda as a way of building a strong LGBT movement in the country.
